If you think summer and holidays are over, we recommend that you think again.
The October weather in many destinations allows you to extend your summer holidays for the whole month, with fewer tourists than during the high season and often at lower prices.
Also, one of the best times to visit Capri are September and October. During these months you can do practically any type of excursion on the island, discovering paths both by sea and by land with mild temperatures. In Capri, the bathing establishments and restaurants close for the season that ended in mid-October.
Some of the activities you can do during your Caprese holiday in October are:
1. A boat ride around the island
Discover Capri from the sea, lying on a boat to enter the magical Blue Grotto.
The boat tours depart from the port of Marina Grande, and then continue past the Salto di Tiberio along the southern coast of the island to the famous Faraglioni, around Punta Carena with its picturesque lighthouse, and stop in front of the Blue Grotto.
You can choose to join an organized group tour or rent a boat with a skipper just for you!
2. A Cocktail in the Piazzetta
Anyone visiting the island should stop in the famous main square, known as the Piazzetta, and spend a few minutes at one of the small tables to enjoy a good outdoor coffee.
Whether it's a morning espresso or an evening aperitif, the stop in the Piazzetta is a must.
3. A climb to Monte Solaro with the chairlift
From Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri you can take the chairlift up to the summit of Mount Solaro where you can admire the view from above, take pictures and stop for a drink at the "La Canzone del Cielo" bar. Immediately after, you have to go down the slope of the mountain following the signs for the Eremo di Cetrella, a tiny chapel perched on the side of the mountain where it was once a refuge for hermits. If the church is open, take the opportunity to take a look inside; the caretakers will be happy to show you the splendid terraces overlooking the sea.
4. A walk on Via Tragara (and beyond)
From the Piazzetta, go down towards the Hotel Quisisana, paying attention to the windows of the luxury boutiques along the way. Once you have turned the corner, you will find yourself on the bright and silent Via Tragara.
This small street runs along the gardens of the most beautiful villas and hotels in Capri, with the sea as a backdrop and jasmine, bougainvillea that surround the street until it reaches the end of the road that overlooks the marvelous Faraglioni.
5. A walk in the center of Anacapri
This village at the highest point of the island is much quieter and quieter than the center of Capri. It is a pleasure to stroll through the alleys lined with artisan shops, majolica benches, and the alleys between houses with traditional barrel roofs.
6. A drink at the lighthouse
Where to see the most spectacular sunset on the island of Capri? Surely at the Punta Carena lighthouse, the only point on the island where you can see the sun setting in the Mediterranean.
Try to get to the lighthouse in the afternoon, take a dip in the sea, get some sun and then sip a cocktail while waiting for the sunset.
